Extensive previous research has demonstrated that dysbiosis of vaginal microbiota characterized by a reduction in <i>Lactobacillus</i> species, heightens susceptivity to HPV infection, consequently contributing to persistent HPV infection and the progression of cervical lesion. Likewise, HPV infection can exacerbate dysbiosis.
