El régimen de intendencias en el marco de las monarquías hispanas

– In recent years, specialists in this field have concurred that it is necessary to pay greater attention to the close relationship which existed between the jurisdictional model that prevailed in a given time and place and the political regimen that imposed it, aspects that constitute two faces of the same coin. Therefore, the present study adopts this perspective to focus on the transcendence exercised by the regimen of the intendencias and subdelegaciones introduced by the Bourbon monarchs, first on the Iberian peninsula and later in its overseas possessions, for this is a fundamental piece in our understanding of the political and territorial process that the new nations of the Americas underwent during the period of emancipation in the 19th century. „Las objeciones de mayor alcance venían, obviamente, del Consejo de Castilla: la consolidación del orden intendencial, por su directa dependencia de la vía reservada de Hacienda y su impronta administrativista, sustraía del control del Consejo parcelas cruciales de la administración territorial, instaurando además una auténtica subversión de los propios fundamentos organizativos de la monarquía.“1
