CROSS REACTING METERIAL POSITIVE TYPE FACTOR VII ABNORMALITY

A case of cross reacting material positive (CRM+) type factor VII deficiency is presented. The patient was 58 years old female and had no serious bleeding episodes. Her parents were consanguineous. Prothrombin time was prolonged but partial thromboplastin time was normal. Factor VII activity measured by one stage assay with any type of thromboplastins was decreased to the level of 1%-7%. However, Factor VII antigen (cross reacting material) measured by a radioimmunoassay was normal level. The examination of other coagulation factors showed normal levels. Several other members of the family showed heterozygotes with relation to the same abnormality.
