Pediatric outpatients' drug administration compliance

Objective To understand the basic situation of pediatric outpatients' drug administration compliance.Methods The data of 200 random pediatric outpatients collected from our hospital from December,2012 to February,2013 using questionnaire and being interviewed were statistically analyzed with SPSS statistical software.Results The overall drug administration compliance of the children was low (67.5％).26.15％ patients without fully implementation of original prescription needed treatment or intervention.18.46％ patients were transiently harmed and required or prolonged hospitalization.Nearly half of the patients without fully implementation of original prescription were harmed.69.1％ patients receiving injection drugs implemented original prescription.Strange or pungent taste and bad smell of the medicine were the main subjective factors affecting drug administration compliance.Conclusions There is big difference between child and adult drug administration.Children are at a great speed in growth,their physiological features are specific,and their reaction and sensitivity to drugs are special,so more adverse reactions of drugs occur in children than in adults.
