O PAPEL DOS CORREIOS COMO POTENCIALIZADOR DO E-COMMERCE NAS MPEs VAREJISTAS DE SALVADOR

Contemporary society experiences a new socioeconomic and cultural configuration that, having established itself in the wake of the expansion of the Internet, allows an unlimited supply of products and services, even over great geographical distances, such as distance education, electronic banking and transactions online commercials, called e-commerce or e-commerce. The Brazilian Post Office has played an important role in the expansion of electronic commerce, becoming, in the cases of Micro and Small Companies (MPEs), the most viable distribution option. Understanding the importance of retail trade for the economy of Salvador, the central objective proposed in this article was to analyze the contribution of the Post Office, as a logistical operator, to the expansion of e-commerce among MSEs in the City. The research, of a deductive and exploratory nature, was based on bibliographic, documentary and survey research, the latter through the application of questionnaires to companies included in the databases of the Brazilian Post and Telegraph Company (ECT). It was concluded that the Correios, although they are the largest provider of logistical services used by this group of companies, still offers an incipient response to the already consolidated demand for e-commerce transactions among the MSEs in Salvador.
