EDITORIAL NOTE

Ming Yeung Cheung's contribution brings together Paul Ricoeur's work on the productive imagination in language and action, and his work on parables, in order to articulate a model for Christians' appropriation of the biblical text in life and action. He suggests that the process of appropriation should be understood as a process of parabolization and practiced as an embedding of different texts in one's life-narrative. He argues that, in this way, the Christian texts and the socio-cultural context of Christians maintain an intertextual dynamic relationship with each other and influence each other's meaning. A Christian practice that engages the imaginative process of intertextual interpretation will in tum inspire those who read and interpret such a practice.
