The most important bacterial diseases affecting mariculture of yellowtail, sea bream, and flounder in Japan are caused by <em>Enterococcus seriolicida, Pasteurella piscicida, Vibrio anguillarum, Nocardia kampachi</em>, and <em>Edwardsiella tarda</em>. With the development of intensive fish culture practices in Japan, bacterial and viral diseases have spread and caused serious problems for culturists.
