Conducting Sexual Health Research among Rural Young Married Men
Conversations on sex and related matters are considered to be private in most Indian communities. Therefore, community-based research on sexuality is often challenging. Considering the paucity of studies on the sexual health of men especially in settings not known for HIV/AIDS, research methods have not evolved adequately. The authors describe the approaches used to discuss sexual health concerns with young men, the challenges faced and the ways in which they were countered. The learnings drawn from this study may provide insights for designing community interventions to address the beliefs and practices of young men concerning sexual health.
