First, the most nominee buses for installing capacitors are developed using various indices. Loss Sensitivity Factors (LSF), Voltage Stability Index (VSI), and Power Loss Index (PLI) are employed to determine the selected buses. Then the proposed SMA is used to deduce the size of capacitors and their positions from the picked buses. The objective function is introduced to minimize the net cost and then, increase the total saving per year. The developed approach is tested on the IEEE distribution network. The obtained results are compared with others to highlight the advantages of the developed approach.
