Analysis of speed limits credibility - Case studies for Batajnica and Nova Pazova

Complex and often contradictory aims in traffic engineering, primarily from the aspect of traffic efficiency and safety, have led to the need for speed management. One of the speed management measures is the speed limit. A poorly set speed limit can lead to negative consequences. A speed limit that is not in accordance with the driver's perception in relation to road and traffic characteristics is not considered credible. This paper examines the credibility of speed limits on two sections between the settlements of Batajnica and Nova Pazova. Through the paper methodology, the road characteristics of sections, speed (calculated speed, free speed, exploitation speed and limited speed) and traffic accidents were analysed. The credibility of the set speed limits in 2019 and 2020 was examined by analysing all the mentioned parameters. Recommendations were made based on the results of the research.
