The organization and approach to the object of study was carried out in two phases, first in the heuristic phase and later in the hermeneutic phase. Regarding the structure of the work, the theoretical background of the curriculum is presented, highlighting its conceptualization, the main historical moments and exponents; the professional nursing academic profile is broken down in a general way in relation to curricular relevance; Subsequently, references are shown with the current situation of the nursing curriculum; findings of convergences and divergences in different related studies; challenges of curricular design in the nursing discipline.\nThe project concludes with the evident need to propose the revision, continuous evaluation and redesign of nursing curricula through constant interaction between graduates, employers, the needs of society and health establishments in such a way as to promote the development of comprehensive skills for the future nurse and the ability of this to be able to provide holistic care.
