Thoracic Surgery preceded Cardiovascular Surgery, which was defined as an independent entity as soon as the technological advances allowed physicians the entry into the cardiac cavities for the correction of congenital heart disease [1]. and thanks to these advances its surgical spectrum is much broader today.
