De la alienación a la alineación: El reto de la escuela
Traditional education is criticized mainly for its alienating character, because it deprives the learner of the motives to learn and the sense of his/her activity. This essay aims to propose a new model that pursues search for meaning, in order to adjust the role of the school to the needs of the current society. It is necessary that this process of change stems from the questioning of automatic operations in the current education system, which leads to a search for the motive of education. In this essay, we propose a motive that fits the requests of the new learning ecology: helping students to build their own learning motives. Based on this motive, four main goals are defined: creating the wish to learn, offering tools to understand, providing opportunities to participate, and teaching to cooperate.
