Tomaron parte en el estudio un total de 838 sujetos con edades comprendidas entre los 9 y los 12 anos. Se usaron los instrumentos AF-5 (Autoconcepto), EQ-i: YV “Inteligencia emocional para ninos y adolescentes”, y una pregunta disenada concretamente para el estudio en el que se valora la importancia que los escolares otorgan a la actividad fisica. El analisis discriminante llevado a cabo encontro que el estado de animo y la importancia de la actividad fisica predecian de forma significativa el autoconcepto fisico. Se sugiere la contribucion de los contextos educativos y sociales en el desarrollo de la inteligencia emocional, asi como la promocion de la actividad fisica, por la relevancia en el proceso de construccion del autoconcepto fisico. EnglishThe purpose of this research was to analyze the predictive role of emotional intelligence and the importance given to the realization of physical activity, on the physical self-concept in children. A total of 838 subjects aged between 9 and 12 years participated in the study. The instruments AF-5 (Self-Concept), EQ-i:YV “Emotional Intelligence for children and teenagers”, and an item specifically designed for the study, which assesses the importance which schoolchildren give to physical activity, were used.The discriminant analysis carried out found that the state of mind and the importance of physical activity significantly predicted the physical self-concept.
