Further evaluations of bystander interventions are needed in the UK that utilises large samples and a validated survey.\n\n\nPractical implications\nThis paper notes the importance of engaging many students in a cohort to participate on a bystander intervention.\n\n\nOriginality/value\nThis study adds to the paucity of evaluations of bystander interventions in the UK.
