International (28 different countries from the Middle East and Africa) and Turkish university students aged between 17 and 40 and in grades one to four participated in the present study. All the students were found to have at least one misconception about citations. Students were found to lack plagiarism knowledge. Turkish students were more successful in certain areas, while international students were not found to be more successful than Turkish students in any areas.
