Konservasi terhadap spesies ini telah dijalankan di berbagai tempat, termasuk di Kabupaten Kebumen, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia. Diketahui bahwa konservasi penyu di Kabupaten Kebumen mulai dikembangkan sejak tahun 2016. Konservasi tersebut dijalankan secara swadaya dan masih belum dilakukan secara resmi. Kegiatan konservasi ini memiliki potensi besar untuk dikembangkan secara maksimal menjadi kawasan konservasi berbasis ekowisata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan kawasan pesisir yang potensial untuk kegiatan konservasi menggunakan teknologi penginderaan jauh serta untuk mengetahui potensi ekowisata wilayah tersebut. Lokasi penelitian difokuskan di Pantai Kalibuntu dan Pantai Kembar Terpadu pada periode Maret sampai April 2021. Citra Sentinel-2A digunakan untuk pemetaan kawasan. Data terkait kelerengan, lebar, pasang surut, arus, dan batimetri pantai diambil secara primer dan sekunder. Sampel sedimen diklasifikasikan menurut skala wentworth dan dihitung persentase kelembabannya. Potensi ekowisata kawasan tersebut dinilai berdasarkan pengamatan langsung dan pengambilan data melalui wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua pantai pengamatan memiliki tingkat kesesuaian sebesar 75,75% untuk dijadikan kawasan ekowisata. Analisis butir sedimen, perhitungan kelerengan pantai, dan lebar pantai menunjukkan bahwa kedua stasiun mendukung aktivitas peneluran penyu. Kedua stasiun memiliki kegiatan konservasi penyu seperti pemantauan peneluran, pemindahan telur ke sarang penetasan semi alami, penangkaran, pelepasliaran tukik, serta sosialisasi edukasi. Pengelolaan dilakukan oleh lembaga masyarakat lokal dan Kelompok Tani Ngadimulya. Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan dan BKSDA Provinsi Jawa Tengah sudah memberikan bantuan sarana dan pelatihan. Budaya pesisir seperti batik penyu dan upacara Sedekah Laut menjadi potensi pendukung pengembangan ekowisata.Sea Turtles are protected species base on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. This study aims to map potential coastal areas for turtle conservation using remote sensing and to determine the ecotourism potential of the area. The research location is on Kalibuntu Beach and Kembar Terpadu Beach from March to April 2021. Sentinel-2A imagery is used for area mapping. Slope, width, tide, current, and beach bathymetry were taken primary and secondary. Sediment samples were classified according to the Wentworth scale and the moisture percentage was calculated. The ecotourism potential of the area was assessed based on direct observation and interviews. The results showed that the beaches had a suitability level of 75.75% to be used as an ecotourism area. Sediment analysis, coastal slope calculation, and beach width showed that both beaches supported turtle nesting activities. Both stations have turtle conservation activities such as eggs monitoring, transferring eggs to semi-natural hatchery nests, captive breeding, releasing hatchlings, and educational outreach. Conservation is carried out by local community institutions and the Ngadimulya Farmer Group. Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and the Central Java Province BKSDA have provided facilities and training assistance.
