In the first phase, an assessment of 211 adolescent girls was carried out, and in the next phase psycho-social intervention was imparted to 32 respondents and the efficacy was assessed. Results show that age of menarche was 13±1.14 years, duration of the menstrual cycle was 30.29±5.91 days, and 51 percent reported moderate abdominal pain during menstruation. The study found a statistically significant difference between pre assessment, and after one month and six months of intervention in physical symptoms and abdominal pain (p< 0.05). The Indian Journal of Social Work (IJSW) is the flagship publication of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, and is brought out by its Publications Unit.
