This research used a descriptive qualitative method. This research is also supported by the theory of reading attitude proposed by McKenna, et.al. The data for this study were collected from two sources, namely a close-ended questionnaire to 20 English Literature students of Universitas Sumatera Utara and supported by interview with 5 out of 20 selected respondents. The results of this study indicate two main things, namely: (1) Vocabulary is the component of reading that is most affected. As many as 40% of respondents chose vocabulary as the most affected reading component, 35% of respondents chose comprehension ability, 15% of respondents chose reading fluency and 10% of respondents chose phonemic awareness. 摘要

本研究试图探究阅读Wattpad会对阅读的哪些部分产生影响,以及学生对使用Wattpad进行阅读的态度。本研究采用描述性定性方法。McKenna等人提出的阅读态度理论也支持了本研究。本研究的数据来源于两种来源,一种是对20名苏门答腊北方大学英语文学专业的学生进行封闭式问卷调查,另一种是对20名被调查者中的5名进行访谈。本研究的结果表明了两点,即:(1)词汇是阅读中受影响最大的组成部分。多达40%的受访者认为词汇是影响阅读的主要因素,35%的受访者选择理解能力,15%的受访者选择阅读流畅性,10%的受访者选择音素意识。(2)对Wattpad的使用持积极态度的有10人,持中立态度的有6人,持消极态度的有4人。
