However, no study has been conducted to compare the relevance of these models in the keratinocytes and fibroblasts interaction physiologically. Therefore, this study aimed to compare these models based on cell migration and proliferation, and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) expression.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>Cell migration was analysed by scratch assay and MMP-7, while cell proliferation was analysed by (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) tetrazolium reduction assay.</p><p><strong>Key findings: </strong>Increased cell migration was observed in CM and TWCC models, while varied results were obtained in CC.
