I read with delight the paper by van Dijk et al. in a recent issue of PDP addressing practical tips for a very sensible issue: manipulation of fragile fetal brains. Not being able to confirm a prenatal neurologic diagnosis is a most frustrating situation for perinatal pathologists. The introduction of agar pre-embedding techniques retrieves a number of fetal brains that otherwise are bound for the waste basket.
