PID, caused by genetic defects, is referred to the inability to produce a normal complement of Abs or immunologically sensitized T cells especially in response to specific Ags. Registry and survey data from a variety of sources reveal an incidence for all PID ranging from 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 2,000 live births. Individual PID may be rare, but altogether, they are exactly frequent.
