The arterial vascularization of the muscular layer is essentially tributary of the submucosal network through short, medium and long muscular recurrent arteries and accessorily through short and long muscular arteries. These arteries anastomose to form an intermuscular plexus which is also nourished by intermuscular arteries directly arisen from the straight arteries. The venous drainage of the muscular layer is also tributary of the subserous, submucosal and intermuscular networks.
