A Multi-Functional Copper Metallogel as a Heterogeneous Reusable Catalyst for Biginelli Condensation and Antimicrobial Activity
A copper metallohydrogel has been synthesised using the gelator 2-(3-tert-butyl-2-hydroxy-5-methoxybenzylamino) acetic acid (H3L). The hydrogel was characterised using rheology, Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionisation-Time of Flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry, FTIR, Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Powder X-ray Diffraction (PXRD), and Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA). The efficacy of the hydrogel as a heterogeneous, reusable catalyst for the Bignelli condensation has been investigated. We have also investigated the hydrogel's antimicrobial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
期刊介绍:
Dalton Transactions is a journal for all areas of inorganic chemistry, which encompasses the organometallic, bioinorganic and materials chemistry of the elements, with applications including synthesis, catalysis, energy conversion/storage, electrical devices and medicine. Dalton Transactions welcomes high-quality, original submissions in all of these areas and more, where the advancement of knowledge in inorganic chemistry is significant.
