Catalytic-Amount Oxidant for Ester-Directed Pd-Catalyzed Olefination
The development of cost-effective and efficient oxidation strategies employing catalytic amounts of oxidants, as alternatives to excessive and expensive metal–salt oxidants, remains highly significant in the field of organic synthesis. Herein, we report a weakly coordinating ester-directed Pd-catalyzed olefination enabled by catalytic amounts of oxidant, providing a cleaner and more practical strategy for synthetic applications. Desired yields could be obtained either by extending the reaction time or by adding an additional catalytic amount of Ag2CO3. This oxidation system not only successfully achieved gram-scale reaction amplification, but also significantly reduced the amount of palladium catalyst while maintaining high reaction efficiency.

Organic chemistry is the fundamental science that stands at the heart of chemistry, biology, and materials science. Research in these areas is vigorous and truly international, with three major regions making almost equal contributions: America, Europe and Asia. Asia now has its own top international organic chemistry journal—the Asian Journal of Organic Chemistry (AsianJOC)
The AsianJOC is designed to be a top-ranked international research journal and publishes primary research as well as critical secondary information from authors across the world. The journal covers organic chemistry in its entirety. Authors and readers come from academia, the chemical industry, and government laboratories.
