We utilized the lectins Wheat Germ Agglutinin (WGA), Peanut Agglutinin (PNA), Soybean Agglutinin (SBA), Concanavalin A (ConA) conjugated with colloidal gold particles as ultrastructural markers in Transmission Electron Microscopy. This technique proved to be particularly suitable for detecting glycosidic residues at the cellular level, where the mucus is produced.
