A flavonol-based fluorescent probe for N2H4 detection and its applications in natural environmental samples

A flavonol-based fluorescent probe for N2H4 detection and its applications in natural environmental samples
Hydrazine possesses a diverse range of applications and exhibits favorable water solubility, which can lead to contamination and toxicity in both the natural environment and human beings due to improper handling. Therefore, it is particularly important to establish a reliable and accurate analytical method for detecting hydrazine. In this study, we designed and synthesized a flavonoid-based fluorescent probe DP-N2H4 that specifically tailored for hydrazine detection, thoroughly investigating its spectral properties and response mechanism. DP-N2H4 demonstrated exceptional selectivity towards N2H4 with an impressively low detection limit of 0.468 μM, showcasing remarkable sensitivity towards N2H4 as well. Furthermore, our findings demonstrated that the probe effectively recognized hydrazine in various environmental and biological samples including ambient water, soil, and living cells.

期刊介绍: Spectrochimica Acta, Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy (SAA) is an interdisciplinary journal which spans from basic to applied aspects of optical spectroscopy in chemistry, medicine, biology, and materials science. The journal publishes original scientific papers that feature high-quality spectroscopic data and analysis. From the broad range of optical spectroscopies, the emphasis is on electronic, vibrational or rotational spectra of molecules, rather than on spectroscopy based on magnetic moments. Criteria for publication in SAA are novelty, uniqueness, and outstanding quality. Routine applications of spectroscopic techniques and computational methods are not appropriate. Topics of particular interest of Spectrochimica Acta Part A include, but are not limited to: Spectroscopy and dynamics of bioanalytical, biomedical, environmental, and atmospheric sciences, Novel experimental techniques or instrumentation for molecular spectroscopy, Novel theoretical and computational methods, Novel applications in photochemistry and photobiology, Novel interpretational approaches as well as advances in data analysis based on electronic or vibrational spectroscopy.
