Viable Schistosoma mansoni infection 41 years after last exposure - a case report of a loyal parasite.

Schistosoma species may show extraordinary longevity, despite not replicating in human hosts. We present a case of active S. mansoni infection in a Swiss patient 41 years after her one and only possible exposure (swimming in Lake Kivu, Rwanda).
