Urban underground car parking: present past and future
Urban underground car parking (UCP) is an essential instrument of resolving parking problems and alleviating urban traffic congestion, and its research and development are receiving increasing attention. This study provides quantitative and qualitative understanding of the general evolutionary trends, knowledge structures and research directions in the field of urban UCP research. Bibliometric analysis of publications from January 1, 1985 to December 31, 2024 related to the field of urban UCP has been conducted, literature co-citation analysis and keyword clustering analysis were used as well. Five major research clusters were identified: UUCP air quality measurement and assessment, optimization and improvement of UCP structures or technologies or energy sources, measurement and evaluation of UCP parameters in simulated environments, the impact of UCP’s own factors on the surroundings, and intelligent UCP. The results of this study provide researchers and practitioners with a panoramic description and in-depth understanding of urban UCP research, contribute to a systematic intellectual outlook on the current status, hotspots, and academic frontiers of urban UCP research, and provide certain heuristic ideas for urban planning and governance.
期刊介绍:
Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology is an international journal which publishes authoritative articles encompassing the development of innovative uses of underground space and the results of high quality research into improved, more cost-effective techniques for the planning, geo-investigation, design, construction, operation and maintenance of underground and earth-sheltered structures. The journal provides an effective vehicle for the improved worldwide exchange of information on developments in underground technology - and the experience gained from its use - and is strongly committed to publishing papers on the interdisciplinary aspects of creating, planning, and regulating underground space.
