The route furnishes a 1:1 mixture of diastereomers in nine steps, achieving an overall yield of 44 % from (−)-Corey lactone diol. The synthetic strategy avoids repeated purification steps and employs a single column purification, thereby reducing solvent consumption and minimizing solvent waste.
