The above article, published online on 30 May 2013 in Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com), has been retracted by agreement the journal Editor-in-Chief, Hiroaki Kajiyama; Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology; and John Wiley & Sons, Australia, Ltd. The retraction has been agreed upon following concerns raised by a third party regarding incorrect reporting of p-values. Following an investigation, the corresponding author disclosed that the statistical analysis of the patient data had been outsourced to a statistical specialist, who provided only the results and significance levels. As a result, the authors were unable to explain or verify the methodology used to calculate the p-values and Chi Square tests. The absence of a clear explanation for the statistical procedures undermines confidence in the validity of the results. Therefore, the editors consider the results and conclusions reported in this article to be unreliable. The authors disagree with the retraction.
