Alkylation of tris(2,6-dimethoxyphenyl)stibine with ethyl iodoacetic acid synthesized [Ar<sub>3</sub>SbCH<sub>2</sub>C(O)OEt]I<sub>3</sub>, Ar = 2,6-(MeO)<sub>2</sub>C<sub>6</sub>H<sub>3</sub>, which is also the product of the reaction of [Ar<sub>3</sub>SbCH<sub>2</sub>C(O)OEt]I and I<sub>2</sub>. The reaction of [Ar<sub>3</sub>SbEt]I with mercury diiodide leads to {[Ar<sub>3</sub>SbEt][Hg<sub>3</sub>I<sub>7</sub>]}<sub><i>n</i></sub>, where Ar = 2,6-(MeO)<sub>2</sub>C<sub>6</sub>H<sub>3</sub>. Compounds [Ar<sub>3</sub>SbCH<sub>2</sub>C(O)OEt]I<sub>3</sub> and {[Ar<sub>3</sub>SbEt][Hg<sub>3</sub>I<sub>7</sub>]}<sub><i>n</i></sub> were characterized by X-ray diffraction. Antimony and mercury atoms were found to have a distorted tetrahedral coordination. Synthesis and Structures of Stibonium Complexes {[2,6-(MeO)2C6H3]3SbCH2C(O)OEt}I3 and {[(2,6-(MeO)2C6H3)3SbEt][Hg3I7]}n
