This study addresses this gap by examining the relationship between knowledge management and innovation capability in shrimp farms in the province of El Oro, Ecuador, a relevant industry to the local economy and global exports. The methodology involved a partial least squares analysis of data collected from 186 shrimp producers. Data collection was conducted using convenience sampling, given the sensitivity of sharing business information. The results show a positive and statistically significant relationship between knowledge management practices and innovation capability, with a path coefficient of 0.423 and 32 % of the variance explained in the innovation capability by the knowledge management variable. The study provides valuable insights for industry stakeholders, including policymakers, researchers and entrepreneurs in the shrimp sector, seeking to drive sustainable growth in the aquaculture sector. The findings highlight the need to continue investing in knowledge management practices to maintain and enhance shrimp companies' innovation capability, thus ensuring their long-term viability in the global market. However, the use of convenience sampling is a key limitation.
