Visible-light-driven borylation and phosphorylation of aryl halides by phosphonium ylide organophotoredox catalysis.
A phosphonium ylide-based visible-light organophotoredox catalyst has been successfully applied to boronic ester synthesis using aryl halides and bis(pinacolato)diboron. The excited state of the photoredox catalyst is capable of undergoing direct photoinduced electron transfer for reductive aryl radical generation. Phosphorylation reactions of aryl halides are also demonstrated, in which the aryl radicals can be efficiently trapped by trialkylphosphites.
