PET-CT, particularly with Gallium-68-DOTATATE, allows earlier and more precise detection of lesions compared to conventional imaging. It identifies somatostatin receptor-positive tumors, aiding in staging, interventional procedures, and guiding peptide receptor radionuclide therapy. The complementary use of fluorodeoxyglucose-PET for predicting tumor biology and managing aggressive, poorly differentiated tumors, helps provide a comprehensive framework for personalized mNETs management.
