Research progress on the development and evaluation of animal models for chronic fatigue syndrome.
Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a debilitating multisystem disorder with an increasing prevalence, significantly impairing patients' quality of life. Several challenges remain, including unclear pathogenesis, the absence of specific diagnostic criteria, and limited therapeutic efficacy. Animal models play a crucial role in understanding the pathogenesis of CFS and testing potential therapies, necessitating the construction and evaluation of these models to be objective and scientifically rigorous. This study provides a comprehensive review of the methods for developing and assessing CFS models, analyzes their strengths and limitations, identifies key challenges in current research, and guides the development of clinically relevant CFS animal models.
