Synthesis of 1-naphthylamines is developed using [4 + 2] cycloaddition between 3-amino-2-pyrone, which is prepared by the conjugate addition reaction of diethyl 2-aminomalonate to alkynyl ketones, and benzyne generated from o-silylaryl triflates.
