Oxidation of Adamantanecarboxylic Acids in the KMnO4–KOH–H2O System
A series of di- and trihydroxysubstituted mono- and dicarboxylic acids of adamantane series was synthesized by oxidation in the KMnO4–KOH–H2O system. The obtained poly-substituted hydroxy acids can be used as a molecular platform for the preparation of new polyfunctional cage compounds that can be used in a variety of applications.
