Chido – Fallait-il pré-positionner une équipe Samu de la Réunion ?

Le 14 décembre 2024, le cyclone tropical intense Chido a violemment frappé Mayotte, provoquant une crise sanitaire majeure dans un territoire déjà vulnérable. En anticipation de cette catastrophe annoncée, le SAMU 974 de La Réunion a déployé une équipe d’intervention médicale, Chido One, avant même l’arrivée du cyclone. Cette stratégie de prépositionnement, déjà expérimentée lors du cyclone Belna en 2019, a permis une réponse rapide et coordonnée, soutenant le centre hospitalier de Mayotte dans la prise en charge des blessés, la sécurisation des infrastructures et l’organisation des évacuations sanitaires. Cette opération a également facilité l’envoi de renforts supplémentaires, notamment via le dispositif PSM DOM 974.
