Factors Affecting the Self-Baking Electrode Formation in Ore-Smelting Furnaces: Part 1
Abstract—The works describing the results of experimental and theoretical investigations of the formation of self-baking electrodes and the parameters of ore-smelting furnaces (OSFs) influencing electrode formation and operation are reviewed. The reported data are generalized; recommendations for designing contact jaws, electrode shells, and the mobile section of the short circuit of OSF are made with allowance for their influence on electrode formation; and the further directions of studying the electrode coking process are determined.
