Good repeatability data were obtained, especially for mortar samples, and the model-theoretical penetration profile of chlorides on mortar samples was confirmed. In addition, the chloride penetration front determined using μ-XRF images was compared with the regular indicator method (using silver nitrate). The methods showed good agreement. By analysing the free and total chloride concentration in conjunction with the porosity of the samples, it was possible to provide evidence of chloride binding during the RCM test.
