[ISO standards in the scientifically informed assessment].
Background: For the correlation report the expert needs support for the recommended comparison of the course of the effective noise dose (ELD) determined by the statutory accident insurance institution (UVT) with the findings.
Objective: How can the noise-induced permanent threshold shift (NIPTS) course of the UVT be used qualitatively and quantitatively for the discussion of the causal relationship?
Material and methods: Use of predictions of expected noise effects in the tone audiogram according to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 1999 and ISO 7029.
Results: Possibilities of qualitative and quantitative use of ISO 1999 and ISO 7029 for the interpretation of tone-audiometric findings in the present individual cases for the discussion of the causal relationship.
Conclusion: Noise effects can be well observed in the group under 40 years old as the age-related effect is still low in this group. The rapidly increasing age-related effect in the group over 40 years old can easily mask the noise effects in the tone audiogram, especially in the case of previous noise exposure.
期刊介绍:
HNO is an internationally recognized journal and addresses all ENT specialists in practices and clinics dealing with all aspects of ENT medicine, e.g. prevention, diagnostic methods, complication management, modern therapy strategies and surgical procedures.
Review articles provide an overview on selected topics and offer the reader a summary of current findings from all fields of ENT medicine.
Freely submitted original papers allow the presentation of important clinical studies and serve the scientific exchange.
Case reports feature interesting cases and aim at optimizing diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
Review articles under the rubric ''Continuing Medical Education'' present verified results of scientific research and their integration into daily practice.
