It was identified as an emerging nematode species and included in the EPPO Alert List in 2017. Rapid and accurate identification of <em>M. luci</em> is required for management practices and laboratory applications. In the present study, a high-throughput Kompetitive Allele-Specific PCR (KASP) assay was developed for molecular identification of <em>M. luci</em>. The assay easily separated <em>M. luci</em> from the closely related species and other RKN species. This is the first report on the identification of <em>M. luc</em>i using a KASP assay. Molecular identification of Meloidogyne luci using KASP assay
Meloidogyne luci is one of the most important root-knot nematodes (RKNs) attacking crops in many parts of the world. It was identified as an emerging nematode species and included in the EPPO Alert List in 2017. Rapid and accurate identification of M. luci is required for management practices and laboratory applications. In the present study, a high-throughput Kompetitive Allele-Specific PCR (KASP) assay was developed for molecular identification of M. luci. The assay easily separated M. luci from the closely related species and other RKN species. This is the first report on the identification of M. luci using a KASP assay.
