In this paper, we outline sex, gender, geographical, ethnic, and racial inequities in those who participate as subjects in research, which often leads to the exclusion of vulnerable populations. In addition, we highlight inequities in research funding, mentorship, publications, language, career stage, and leadership roles that lead to disparities in who conducts the research or decides on research priorities. We also report algorithmic bias and artificial intelligence as an emerging source of inequities in research.
