Consistent Injection of Gas and Electron Beam into Plasma Tube
In studying Z-pinch discharges under the effect of intense electron beams, one of the methods for increasing the beam current density in plasma is a pulse gas injection into the discharge tube. We studied the pulsed gas supply into the plasma discharge tube while continuously measuring the gas pressure using a fast-response ionization sensor. The technique developed makes it possible to synchronize filling the experimental volume with gas with injecting the electron beam into the plasma. It is now possible to input a beam with high current density if the electrons are injected before the gas front enters the transport channel, preventing beam scattering and increase in phase volume.
