All founding members participated in the TRANSFORM KL2 Program at Columbia University Irving Medical Center's Irving Institute for Clinical and Translational Research. In this short communication, we describe the origins of this peer mentoring group established to support these seven early-career KL2 scholars. We also provide a summary of the development of an institution-wide peer mentoring program, created by the seven members of the initial peer mentoring group. We highlight how being at similar career stages, coming from different institutional departments, and sharing common academic goals in a safe space may have contributed to the success of the peer mentoring group.
