The major cellular fatty acids were summed feature 3 (C<sub>16:1</sub> <i>ω</i>7<i>c</i> and/or C<sub>16:1</sub> <i>ω</i>6<i>c</i>) and iso-C<sub>15:0</sub>. The genome of strain 4-7-4<sup>T</sup> was 4890729 bp, and the genomic DNA G + C content was 49.8%. In summary, strain 4-7-4<sup>T</sup> was identified as a novel species of <i>Parapedobacter</i>, for which the name <i>Parapedobacter flavus</i> sp. nov. was proposed.
