Evaluation of Judd-Ofelt (J-O) parameters and efficiency from luminescence spectra of alkaline earth alumino borate glasses for reddish-orange laser
In the current work, Eu3+ ions doped Alkaline Earth Alumino Borate (AEAlB) glasses were synthesized using melt-quenching method and evaluation of J-O parameters and other radiative properties from the photoluminescence (PL) spectra were reported for visible red laser applications. The luminescence spectra were measured with 394 nm excitation have eight luminescence peaks associated with the transitions “5D1→7F0 (509nm), 5D1→7F1 (537nm), 5D1→7F2 (556nm), 5D0→7F0 (580nm), 5D0→7F1 (592nm), 5D0→7F2 (614nm), 5D0→7F3 (652nm) and 5D0→7F4 (701nm)” in all the AEAlBEu glasses under investigation. The decay spectra were used to measure the experimental lifetimes, quantum efficiencies and non-radiative decay rates of AEAlB glasses. All parameters confirm the aptness of the AEAlB glasses for visible red laser applications.
