Experiments have shown a significant age-related increase in the level of serotonin in the lungs in normal conditions and a pronounced decrease in the activity of lung monoamine oxidase only at a late stage of ontogenesis. A high negative correlation between the level of serotonin in the lung tissue and blood under stress is typical only for old animals.
