Advanced techniques for optical frequency comb generation using optical modulators: a comprehensive survey
This paper discusses the latest techniques to generate optical frequency comb (OFC) lines using optical systems based on an Electro-Optic Moderator (EOM), and their limitations and possible improvements in future work are discussed and compared to other methods. They are categorized based on the used number of EOM into a single, multiple of the same type, or different types with single or multiple laser sources (LSs). Each type is deeply explained and compared to the various techniques and works. The possible challenges in implementing the system in practical application are covered, and suggested solutions are introduced. In the end, a suggestion of the proposed systems to be investigated and modulated is indicated and explained.
